Lambeth Prospects: Images from the collection at Lambeth Archives from the 17th to the 21st centuries will open at Morley College on Thursday 9 February 2012.
The images, in media including oil, watercolour, print and photography give a rarely-seen insight into Lambeth over the centuries. The collection focuses on the north of the borough’s transition from a riverside village, to a Victorian industrial centre and then to today’s diverse 21st century community, but also on the development of its suburbs in Brixton, Streatham, Clapham and Norwood.
