The Committee of The Vauxhall Society/Vauxhall History has voted unanimously to object to an application by Adidas to advertise in Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens with floodlit branding banners.
We agree with Vauxhall Gardens historian David Coke that, if allowed to go ahead, the floodlit advertising banners application would ‘open the floodgates’ to much more of the same, turning a park into ‘just another part of the High Street’. If you and friends feel the same way, do make a personal objection to Lambeth Council planning officer Scott Hackner while there’s still time.
That’s before the closing date, Wednesday 23 November. For how, where and why to object,
visit the Lambeth Planning applications database (www.lambeth.gov.uk/planningdatabase) and search for the application reference: 16/06187/ADV.
